CHALLENGE!
(Poet + Writer = Powritet. Yes, we made up a new word just for this Challenge because (1) word mashups are fun and (2) we couldn’t find any “official” terms for people who write prosetry, so… You’re f*cking welcome.)
Prosetry (Wikipedia link) is “…a block of text that retains the qualities of poetry” (source). This source includes several subgenre examples, and here, here, here, here, and here are examples written by DeviantArt writers! (Can you tell we had a hard time choosing our favorites?)
Element 1: The form for today’s story must be Prosetry.
Element 2: Your story must mention at least THREE herbs or other botanical elements (i.e. chamomile blossoms, death caps, salt, sage, tobacco, pine, etc).
(Optional) Theme: Witchy.
You think you spread magic for the wrong reasons.
You think it’s the strength of your intimidating gaze, your feet like roots and your shoulders like fire, and you don’t even remember the flicker of gold in your mutable eyes.
You think it’s the fact that you burn sage after the limping woman visits our home, while you don’t consider the direction of your antipathy, of your dislike, steering my tension like magnets.
You think you spread magic when you add cinnamon and orange peel to boiling water, when you make me notice the new moon, or when you sprinkle the word Yule in our chats, and yet, you don’t even realise the power of your passion and love, how your commitment carries us all with you like an unforgiving tide.
You shape reality with your will, and in this effect, you’re like the best novels ever written, just with extremely kissable lips.
See you tomorrow
